Sharing the result and keeping a backup
Updated 2026-10-20
RoomProrate keeps your entries only in the open tab. That is good for privacy and means you decide which copy exists where.
Share the result
- Download CSV appears after a successful calculation. It lists each person's total, then every bill with its dates, method, days, fixed and usage shares, and any unassigned amount. It opens in any spreadsheet app.
- Print prints only the result. To make a PDF, choose "Save as PDF" in your browser's print dialog; RoomProrate does not create the PDF itself.
The CSV is built so that names cannot run as spreadsheet formulas. A name that starts with =, +, - or @ is written with a leading apostrophe, a common protection against CSV injection.
If you change anything after calculating, the old result and its CSV button are removed until you calculate again, so a shared file always matches the inputs on screen.
Keep a backup
Download backup (JSON) saves your currency, people, dates, bills and choices as a plain text file. Restore backup loads it again. Restoring:
- checks the file carefully and keeps your current entries if anything is wrong with it;
- asks before replacing what is on screen;
- asks you to confirm the fixed-charge recipients of every bill again.
Backups and CSV files contain names and amounts. Store and send them as you would any personal document.
Remove your entries
Delete all data clears the page after asking you. Closing the tab does the same. Files you downloaded stay in your Downloads folder until you delete them there.
